Dr. Ken Canfield

Founder & President National Center for Fathering;
Founder & President National Association for Grandparenting

Dr. Ken Canfield is a nationally known leader and scholar who has committed his life to strengthening fathers, families, and grandparents. He founded the National Center for Fathering (www.fathers.com) and the National Association for Grandparenting and has been in involved in many other non-profits during his career. Dr. Canfield has served as a consultant to media, national, state and community leaders—often in partnership with his wife, Dee. Ken has testified to the National Commission of Children (1990), served as a founding member of the Father to Father Initiative (1995-2000) and the National Fatherhood Leaders Group (2002-2006). He has been recognized for his leadership and was awarded the Father of the Year (1993) by the National Congress for Men and Children, the Most Outstanding Alumnus Award (2006) from his alma mater, Friends University, and the Polish Presidential Medal of Honor (2007). Dr. Canfield has keynoted and presented at dozens of state and community conferences including in California, Florida, Indiana and Kansas. In addition, he has taught his “7 Secrets of Effective Fathers” two-day conference to over 125,000 fathers in a variety of community centers as well as military and faith-based settings.

He is the author of numerous articles, both popular and scientific. His work has appeared in Psychological Reports, Educational and Psychological Measurements, The World and I, Parents, Today’s Better Life, Living with Children and New Man. He is the author of twelve books, including The 7 Secrets of Effective Fathers, The Heart of a Father, The Adventures of Fatherhood Series, and They Call Me Dad, as well as several book chapters in collaborative texts.

Besides publishing, Canfield has been heard on a daily weekday radio commentary, Today’s Father, which he began in 1993 and aired on over 600 stations nationwide. His most recent radio program, Grands Matter, focuses on the important role grandparents fulfill in the family. He has been interviewed on The Oprah Winfrey Show (twice), NBC’s Today Show, ABC’s World News Tonight, Focus on the Family, 700 Club, and numerous other radio and television programs. In 2016 he founded the National Association for Grandparenting, (www.grandkidsmatter.org), focusing on the role of grandfathers. His book, The H.E.A.R.T of Grandparenting, was published in the fall of 2018. Dr. Canfield believes that fathers and grandparents are untapped resources and needed additions to strengthen the American family. “With complex family issues and life opportunities all fathers and grandparents must wrestle with the questions: ‘What is my purpose, and how am I fulfilling it in my family—emotionally, relationally and spiritually?’” Dr. Canfield has 5 adult children (three daughters and two sons), three sons-in-law, one daughter in-law and twelve grandchildren.

Sandra Yager

CCA Superintendent

Sandra Yager, a native of Argentina, is a dynamic educator who has, throughout her life, followed Jesus Christ and declares Him her Lord and Savior. She received her degree as Professor of Mathematics from CONSUDEC in Argentina and moved to the U.S. at the young age of twenty-two, after marrying Mr. Yager, a Vancouver native. They are the parents of two lovely young women. Sandra began her teaching career at Jason Lee Middle School in Vancouver as a math teacher, then moved over to open Skyview High School as an Assistant Principal. Later, Sandra was appointed principal of the Vancouver School of Arts and Academics (VSAA).

In 2000, Sandra was recruited as planning principal by Hockinson School District, a suburb of Vancouver, Washington. She helped the community transform the district into a K-12 school district. She devoted her heart to creating a high school built on the foundations of rigor, relevance, and relationships. Hockinson High School opened in 2003 and graduated its first senior class in 2006. That project will forever mark Mrs. Yager as a respected leader and team player by her staff and community. In 2010, she moved to the Longview School District and became the principal of Monticello Middle School, a state-designated “low performing school”, where she helped create a culture committed to improving student performance – academically, emotionally, and relationally. In 2011, she accepted the position of Superintendent of the Hockinson School District, where she served with distinction for eight years.

After 25 years in public education, God called Sandra into Christian education, where she could openly share her passions – her love for Jesus Christ, family, education and servant leadership. In 2019, Sandra accepted the position of Superintendent of Cornerstone Christian Academy for Learning and Leadership which is the pilot school for ALL His Kids. Her heart is dedicated to advancing the Kingdom of God by transforming Christian education. She is serving on the board of ALL His Kids and is helping to design Christ centered practices that are sustainable, scalable and innovative.

Jim Galvin, PhD

Scenario Planning Consultant

Jim is an organizational consultant and coach specializing in strategy, governance, and change. He is relentlessly focused on releasing the potential of leaders and organizations. His client list spans a wide variety of organizations including foundations, associations, universities, agencies, ministries, congregations, denominations, and businesses.

Jim holds the Doctor of Education degree in Curriculum and Supervision from Northern Illinois University, where the faculty nominated his doctoral research for the prestigious Dissertation of the Year Award. He holds the Master’s degree in Christian Formation and Ministry from Wheaton College where he also completed his undergraduate work in Christian Education. In addition, he has served as Adjunct Faculty at Wheaton College for ten years and Judson University for five years.

As an author, Jim has written many best-selling books and instructional resources. He has been published by Zondervan, Tyndale House, Thomas Nelson, Baker, Navpress, Moody, Intervarsity Press, Concordia, and Focus on the Family. He has won the C.S. Lewis Medal Award for Children’s Literature three times and has been honored by the ECPA as a finalist for the Christian Book Award 19 times. His products have been translated into more than 37 languages around the world. He is most well known as the co-creator and co-senior editor of the best-selling Life Application Study Bible.

Formerly, Jim served as the National Training Director for Youth for Christ where he was responsible for the ongoing leadership development of all full-time staff. Jim lives in Elgin, Illinois with his wife Kathleen. He serves as the Board Chair for the Caspari Center in Jerusalem, which takes him to Israel frequently.

Bill Gibbons

Founder, Host Learning and ALL His Kids

Bill Gibbons is a visionary servant leader with a God-sized vision and faith to “transform education that honors Christ and advances His Kingdom”. He is an innovative educational entrepreneur “disruptor” who has designed radical approaches to K-12 education. He has a long history of stirring up thought leaders and influencing education in the U.S. and abroad. Bill founded HOSTS Learning in 1977, which grew to be the third largest provider of supplemental services in reading and mathematics in the nation. The Program served over a million students in 1,200 school across 44 states and Central America. The HOSTS Learning program holds the distinction of being the only research-based practices identified in the United States in the landmark legislation “No Child Left Behind Act.” The “Blue Chip” award was given to HOSTS Learning by the National Chamber of Commerce as one of the top four entrepreneurial companies in the United States.

Bill worked with national leaders in education, business, research, and politics, including two U.S. presidents, congressional leaders, and governors to create high-performing, low-cost, and scalable practices that advanced student performance in reading and mathematics. Upon retiring from HOSTS, Bill became the superintendent of Portland Christian Schools in Portland, Oregon, and later was asked by his pastor to become Superintendent at Cornerstone Christian Academy for Learning and Leadership in Vancouver, Washington. It was there that the Lord reminded Bill that He provided him with all his previous knowledge and experience in order to design and implement a model practice that would honor Christ and advance His Kingdom. Bill served for eight years as Superintendent and used the school to design and incubate a high performing, tech-enabled, rigorous, relevant and relational educational practice, designed to help students and parents apply God’s truth to their daily lives and to cultivate their gifts and talents to serve God’s Kingdom.

John B. Savage, EMBA

John B. Savage, EMBA, is a seasoned consultant and coach. Kevin Singleton

Founder and Ambassador at Elevate New York

Kevin Singleton is a nonprofit youth development expert and mentor, a cross cultural musician, and a Grammy Award winning songwriter.  As a platform speaker, teacher, and enduring musician he has performed at conferences and school assemblies for more than 3 million students and educators in 20 countries around the world.  He employs components of what he calls “The Mailman Method,” which he learned from his college basketball coach, Bill Peterson, who created the workout method for Karl Malone. Kevin continues to add to his songwriting repertoire, where his songs have been sung by faith-based organizations globally.

In 2009 Kevin founded Elevate New York, accredited by the New York City Department of Education as an in-school/after-school mentoring 501c3 serving those in the poorest congressional district in America. Over the last decade, he has raised and invested over $3 million into NYC Community School district 8. The conservative Social ROI is now over $20 million, because of their dropout prevention rates and the state or federal funds no longer needed to subsidize their graduates.

Kevin is most often asked to develop leadership among teams and bring inspiration and innovation to program development. In response to the overwhelming amount of requests for understanding a cross-cultural approach to music, mentoring and faith, Kevin is also developing a music and mentoring online subscription program, along with other tools and resources he has developed and brings to his TSG clients.
